Comedian Mic Larry might be known for his sharp wit and Detroit-rooted stand-up, but there’s a lot more to the man than the mic.

During a lively visit with Mason, Angie Starr, and Devon on 105.9 KISS-FM, Mic opened up about his lesser-known talents—like art, basketball, and a powerful childhood story that shaped his creative spirit.

“I played Division 1 basketball,” Mic revealed casually. “I was a point guard. One of my favorite players was Isiah Thomas—people used to say I played like him.”

But it was drawing and painting that held his attention when life slowed down.

“I was always on punishment as a kid,” he said, laughing. “No tablets, no nothing. Just me and my sketchbook. That’s how I started drawing.”

Mic now has a growing art gallery of his own work, many of which were inspired during his downtime or even while planning shows. He’s even been encouraged to combine his talents—bringing painting and performance together in future events.

“It’s crazy, man. I draw, I paint, I clean up! I’m trying to show y’all,” he joked as he tried to pull up a picture on his phone.

The moment turned heartfelt when Mason shared a story about a childhood friend named Vincent Gomez, who taught him to draw cars back in fifth grade. Those drawings? They ended up looking eerily similar to the real cars on today’s roads.

“It’s so eerie,” Mason said. “Vincent was patient with me. Showed me how to draw the wheels, the frame… I still remember that.”

Mic Larry was floored—and connected instantly. That kind of early encouragement, he said, is what helped him become the multi-talented performer he is today.

“That’s why I tell people, whatever gift you have—trust God and use it. You never know where it’ll lead.”

Whether he’s delivering punchlines, inspiring believers, painting, or reminiscing about hoop dreams, Mic Larry proves he’s a creative force with no limits.
