Detroit’s Foodie Town Feud Is Finished
One thing about Detroit, we love good food, but mainly when it’s paired with good service! One thing us Detroiters hate: UNSATISFACTORY FOOD AND SERVICE! Both are just too much to bear! But what’s the best approach to resolving this issue? We talk to a Detroit foodie to get answers!
Viral food critic Mr. Chimetime has been hanging in Detroit for a few weeks, trying out restaurants and giving his expertise on the flavor, presentation and customer service from his point of view. With a palate that’s not always the easiest to impress, Mr. Chimetime gave up his daytime job to travel the world has amassed over 1.5 million followers on TikTok and over half a million followers on Instagram to give his brutally honest review on food all over the world, no sponsorship or paid promotion involved. While some people can appreciate his straightforward approach, there are others who would prefer ‘just the good parts’. This is where local brand ambassador Chris Kyle comes into the picture.
Detroit Is A Foodie Town
According to his bio, Detroit native Chris Kyle uses his platform, @enjoymotorcity to ‘shine a spotlight on enjoyable businesses and hot spots’ with over 44 thousand followers on Instagram and over 50 thousand followers on Tik Tok, mainly from the metro Detroit area. Chris Kyle maintains that while he may be compensated in some way for many of his experiences, he likes to keep the focus on the best parts of the establishment and address any adverse concerns off camera.
In January, Mr. Chimetime posted his review on the local restaurant Kuzzo’s Chicken & Waffles, by which he was not impressed! After waiting for food for an hour and fifteen minutes, he describes his food and his overall experience (link below). This review alone has over a million views and comments on Tiktok! Soon after the review went viral online, Chris Kyle posted his own contrasting take on his experience at Kuzzo’s, and ended his review with a joke about Mr. Chimetime’s haircut. *cues boxing ring bell*
After lots of amusing back and forth from both the influencers as well as their followers, I had to step in and say, “ahh ok, but what’s the solution for?” before someone took a threat too far. I invited both influencers to come chat with me to see how we could end the entertaining exchange. Chris Kyle pulled up to the station and admitted that his jab at Mr. Chimetime was unnecessary and took accountability to be more responsible with his platform. Also, we spoke with listeners that would like to see local restaurants all over step their game up with consistency and customer service.
