It’s a First for the Detroit Lions
The NFL season is here! I don’t like to see summer ending, but I’m happy that it means football is starting up, both NFL and college. The Detroit Lions, of course, are one of the most buzzed-about teams in the league this season. Now, it’s a first for the Detroit Lions.
On Thursday (Aug. 3), the Lions announced that they have sold out their season tickets for the first time in the history of the league being at Ford Field. That’s so great to hear. I mean, Lions fans have always packed Ford Field, even with the team’s losing streak, but this is the first official season ticket sellout. It’s their 21st year at Ford Field, too.
It’s a First for the Detroit Lions
“This is an exciting moment for our franchise. To reach this milestone as we celebrate our 90th season of Detroit Lions football makes the moment even more special,” Detroit Lions President and CEO Rod Wood stated in a press release.
“The Lions have always enjoyed a loyal and multi-generational fan base that has been the bedrock of our fan base,” he continued. “We can’t wait for the home field advantage that this will create inside Ford Field this season.”
So, why all the hype? If you’re a Lions fan at all, you should know. The Detroit Lions ended the 2022 season with an 8-2 winning streak. They finished the season 9-8, which marked the Lions’ first winning season since 2017. Now, I really think they could make it far this season. Check out my list of the 10 best NFL teams in the NFL going into the new season here. For the Lions, I say, “I really think that Dan Campbell, Jared Goff and company have what it takes to make it to the playoffs the year. As for the Super Bowl? I could see them there in the next few years.”
