10-Year-Old Steals Car, Leads Police On I-75 Chase In Saginaw
Last week, there was quite a remarkable incident in Saginaw County. It’s hard to believe, but a 10-year-old was actually arrested for driving a stolen car and trying to flee from the police on I-75.
This all went down on Thursday, May 27. Recently, Michigan State Police (MSP) shared on Twitter that the 10-year-old took a 2017 Buick Encore from a residence on Hess Ave in Buena Vista.
What happened?
According to the MSP, the Saginaw Central Dispatch got a heads-up from OnStar about a stolen car cruising down I-75. Apparently, there were a bunch of people who actually dialed 911 to say they saw a kid behind the wheel on the same road.
Troopers managed to spot the car near the Birch Run exit and thought they’d pull the driver over. However, the 10-year-old driver didn’t stop and kept going.
OnStar stepped in and disabled the stolen car, said MSP. The car ended up hitting a guardrail and finally came to a stop.
The 10-year-old driver made a run for it but was eventually taken into custody near the crash. Right now, the 10-year-old is being lodged at Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center. Thankfully, MSP reported that nobody got hurt in this crazy incident.
Below you can see dash cam footage of the Trooper behind the suspect for about a mile with lights and sirens on while OnStar disabled the stolen car. It’s worth noting that there is no sound in the video.
