Michigan Resident Wins Major Lotto Prize Thanks to His Dog

A Michigan man recently won a meaty $300,000 in the Michigan Lottery, and it's pretty much thanks to his dog. I guess that's why they say a dog is a man's best friend, or at least one reason.

The Michigan man won $300,000 on a Michigan instant online game, and it happened while he was letting his dog out in the early morning hours. According to a press release, the Muskegon County man stated that he discovered the Michigan Lottery's "Royal VIP" game from friends who were having fun playing the new online instant game. He decided to try it out, and the best time came when he was letting his dog out in the morning.

“I got up early one morning to let my dog out and decided to play a few games of Royal VIP before starting my day" he said in a press release.

The player, 40, chose to remain anonymous. He explained that he couldn't believe he scored such a big prize. “I won $700 within a few minutes of playing and was happy with that. A few minutes later, I won again, but I thought I’d only won $300 at first," he said via the Michigan Lottery. "When I realized I had actually won $300,000, I didn’t think it was real." I wouldn't either!

He still didn't think he really won $300,000 until he logged into his account and saw the evidence. "It wasn’t until I saw my account balance with instructions on claiming the prize that I knew I had really won. It was such a shock and is still sinking in!" So, what's he going to do with the big bucks? He says he will save his winnings. Smart guy.

Michiganders have a lot of pride about being from this great state. I certainly do! We've got the Great Lakes, beautiful forests, major sports teams and all the seasons. What's not to like? Okay, I could do without the cold winters. But, that aside, this is a pretty awesome place to live.
