The Philly native was shot and killed in Los Angeles Monday (Sept. 12). The rapper was dining with his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang at a local Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles where he was gunned down over jewelry. He later died at a local hospital about 30 minutes later.
While there was an outpouring of love and condolences to the rapper's family, fans were taken aback by Nicki's tweet which seemed insensitive to the late rapper's girlfriend.
"After Pop Smoke there’s no way we as rappers or our loved ones are still posting locations to our whereabouts," Nicki tweeted. "To show waffles & some fried chicken????! He was such a pleasure to work with. Condolences to his mom & family. This makes me feel so sick. Jesus. #SIP #PnbRock [dove emoji]."
One fan wrote, "Nicki delete this pls." Another fan added, "Nicki pls. The girl already feel bad enough I’m sure."
"Come on Nicki. Not you hopping on the bandwagon and blaming his girlfriend. This is such a distasteful thing to say in a time like this. Do better," tweeted another fan.
