Michigan’s No. 1 Drinking Game Might Surprise You
Drinking games are often a popular way to pass the time at parties, and now, we have solved the mystery of Michigan’s most popular drinking game. It’s actually an unexpected one, too- at least I think so.
The staff at SolitaireBliss.com has put together a list of the most popular drinking games in each state in the U.S., as well as each major city. As for methodology, “Using Google search data, we combed through more than 3,100 phrases such as ‘yard pong’ and ‘beer die table’ to figure out the most popular drinking games across the nation. Some states are a little more creative than others when it comes to their favorite game, while others prefer some tried and true classics,” they state. “We compared each state’s search results to the national average in order to determine which search term has a higher search volume when compared to the national average. This method of analysis allows us to even the playing field between smaller states with lower populations or a lower search volume and states with a large population with higher search volume.”
According to the tally, the top games in 19 states were all about beer. Beer pong was also crowned the most popular game in seven states including New York, Nevada and Oregon. Beer pong is actually the only drinking game that I’ve played. Sad, right? Another popular game, flip cup, was most popular in Arkansas, Delaware, and West Virginia. In the Midwest, but not Michigan, Beersbee was a popular pick.
So, which game was No. 1 in Michigan? Cornhole came out on top. I honestly didn’t even know Cornhole was a drinking game. I though it was just a normal, summertime game. In the city of Detroit, Beer Pong was actually the No. 1 drinking game, which make sense to me. Find the full list here.
