Lions Preseason Opener
The Detroit Lions open the 2022-23 preseason tonight at 6 pm against the Atlanta Flacons at Ford field. The Lions hope to improve upon their 3-13-1 season from 2021 with a lot of returning talent and some new players. After being traded for Matthew Stafford last season, Jared Goff is ready to take the snaps for Detroit once again. Another key player for the Lions is wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who garnered some Rookie of the Year attention late last year after leading the Lions in receiving. Aidan Hutchinson, a former Michigan Wolverine and first round pick, is one of the most prominent of the new faces fans should keep an eye out for. Hopefully, he can contribute significantly to Detroit’s defense. Other key additions include wide receiver Dj Chark who was signed in free agency, and wide receiver Jameson Williams who the Lions took with the 12th overall pick in the draft, but will most likely miss some time to began the season.
As for the Atlanta Falcons, they are going to experiencing a few changes this year. In 2022, the Falcons will have a new quarterback taking snaps. To fill the void left by Matt Ryan’s departure to the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta acquired former Oregon standout Marcus Mariota. Mariota hasn’t started for a team since being drafted by the Titans in 2015. He later lost his stating positing to Ryan Tannehill in 2019. Mariota is looking to revive his playing career with the Falcons.
The Lions redemption season begins tonight. Pre-game show starts at 5:30 don’t miss out.
