Detroit Winter Fest fans rejoice! On Thursday, the city of Detroit announced a new festival coming to Palmer Park this winter season. The festival will be on Feb. 11th and run till the 13th. Towards the end of last year, it was announced that the annual Detroit Winter Blast would be moved to Royal Oak this year and will take take place on the 18th-20th of Feb. This announced left many Detroiters upset and disappointed as the Winter Blast is one of the most sought after events in the city during the winter. Brad Dick, who is the Group Executive, Services & Infrastructure for the City of Detroit said on Thursday, “Detroiters know we have the gift of having all four seasons, so we wanted to provide an opportunity to enjoy winter at one of Detroit’s premier parks. This event is a family friendly way to give back to our city and we couldn’t be happier to provide all of it for free. We also want to thank our partner Bedrock for coming onboard to support the Detroit Youth Choir performance.”

President of People for Palmer Park, Rochelle Lento, said that she is excited about the Winter Fest coming to Palmer Park. She stated that, “We are thrilled that the City of Detroit has selected Palmer Park for its 2022 Winter Fest. We appreciate the partnership we have with the City of Detroit and look forward to jointly presenting a wonderful weekend of fun outdoor winter activities in a Palmer Park winter wonderland.” Detroiters, make sure you and your family make it to one or both of  these winter extravaganzas as both cities plan on providing you and your family the most thrilling winter festivals of 2022.
