Some of the biggest names in music answered “The Call” today (January 20)in a trailer to promote the Super Bowl LVI Halftime show. In a trailer directed by Straight Outta Compton filmmaker F. Gary Gray, the video starts strong, with Eminem battling his alter ego, Slim Shady in the studio while “Rap God” plays. Once his phone dings from a text, their battle ends and Slim Shady fades away.

Next, we hear the beginning of Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode” to reveal Snoop jamming out to the tune in his car. In typical Snoop style, his car and surrounding cars activate their hydraulics for a flashy, fun time on the road. Snoop, too, receives a text and peels off. Mary J. Blige is the next artist featured in the trailer, in a montage of glam photoshoots while “Family Affair” plays. Kendrick Lamar is up next on the roster, hard at work at a desk writing on papers — some are thrown in the sky, while others are crumbled and thrown on the floor — while “HUMBLE.” plays. Finally, Dr. Dre walks along the shore to “California Love,” which is seen to be played by keys in the ocean. Watch the epic trailer below:

As we previously reported, Dr. Dre could reportedly lose millions if COVID-19 forces the Super Bowl Halftime Show to cancel. The rap mogul is reportedly fronting the money for the production and has insurance to cover the outcome of a cancellation, but the insurance excludes any COVID-19 related blowback. The clause falls under the Communicable Disease Exemption which means the insurance policy will not cover Dre’s losses if the show is canceled.

Super Bowl 2022 is scheduled to be held on February 13, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET. If the show is a no-go because of omicron variant cases rising, the game will most likely go on and the NFL has already considered a backup venue because of California’s strict indoor mask mandate. Dallas’ AT&T Stadium has been considered but a spokesperson for the Super Bowl stated that the game will take place in L.A. as planned.

Good news for those who want to attend this year’s Super Bowl but don’t have the funds — the NFL is doing its part to help with the blood shortage by offering blood donors the chance to win tickets to the biggest entertainment event of the year. We earlier reported that the package includes tickets to the game, round-trip airfare, three-night hotel accommodations, and a $500 gift card for expenses.
