Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony Is Back
The Downtown Detroit Partnership and DTE Energy Foundation are proud to announce the return of the 18th annual Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony. The award-winning ceremony is going to be held at Campus Martius Park on Friday, November 19, from 5 p.m. – midnight. It is highly recommended to arrive to the celebration early so that your children are able to see Santa Claus along with some special guests light the Tree a little after 7pm! The festivities will be centered around the 65-foot Norway spruce tree that is taller and brighter than any other tree in Detroit. The tree will be decorated with all sorts of different ornaments and illuminated by over 20,000 bright multi-colored LED lights.
Along with the tree lighting ceremony, there will be some spectacular performances from Season 20 “The Voice” winner Cam Anthony. Detroit’s Queen of the Blues Thornetta Davis, and singer/songwriter Ryan Neal. Gracing the ice-rink at Campus Martius Park, will be 2016 World Silver medalist and 2014 Olympic Bronze medalist, figure skater Ashley Wagner.
According to Downtown Detroit Partnership, the event is outdoors and will go on whether it rains, is cold, or its sunny out so please dress accordingly. Masks are encouraged and will be distributed at the event, especially where individuals are not able to social distance as much, due to high attendance volume. Free vaccination shots will be available at the event as well for those who choice to get vaccinated. Detroit, come out and celebrate as we get ready to kick off the holiday season!
