Kanye West Sued Over Yeezy Shipping Delays
Kanye West is being sued over the shipping delays by his Yeezy brand.
According to legal documents reviewed by Complex, Yeezy is accused of “failing to ship items within thirty days and failing to provide adequate delay notices” among other behaviors.
The suit also alleges that Yeezy “made untrue or misleading statement[s] regarding its ability to ship products within a certain timeframe, particularly where customers paid an additional charge for expedited shipping.”
The district attorneys are requesting that Yeezy be fined “$2,500 for each violation” and pay “restitution on behalf of affected consumers.”
The suit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, October 22 by the State of California via L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón. The district attorneys from Alameda, Napa, and Sonoma counties are also listed in the suit.
Ye collaborated with Adidas to sell apparel and the rapper’s shoe line but Adidas was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit per Business Insider.
The Adidas website does include a disclaimer on shipment times: “Due to the coronavirus’s impact and the mandates in place, your order may experience a shipping delay. This delay is due to several factors, including travel restrictions, available staffing, and/or federal/state/local mandates.”
Yeezysupply.com, the domain listed in the suit, contains the message in regard to shipping: “Standard shipping on domestic orders – please allow 2-3 business days for your order to process and 3-5 days to ship.”
