Michigan Town Named the ‘Coolest City with the Lowest Cost of Living in the U.S.’
Sometimes, cool cities aren’t exactly the ones with the lowest cost of living.
That said, the folks at PureWow.com recently did an analysis of data from the Council for Community and Economic Research’s Cost of Living Index, as well as their own qualitative analyses, to find the coolest places to live in the U.S. that are also affordable.
Here’s the kicker: Kalamazoo, Michigan, is No. 1 on the list. Way to go!
“With the lowest cost of living composite index on this list, from groceries to housing (and a relatively low state income sales tax), you’ll find your dollar can probably go further here than other Mitten-state enclaves, like Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids,” the site states in the article.
They add that, “The ‘Zoo is unique. It’s a mid-sized city that packs both a small-town and big-city punch—so you get your chili cook offs, farmers markets and your visual and performing arts too. Yes, you can have it all.”
