With the opening of the mass vaccination site at Ford Field, it didn’t take long for the scammers to get busy. People who work and live in the city of Detroit are being targeted for the COVID-19 vaccine scam.
We go information to keep our people in the D safe because we want to make sure that you and your loved ones are not scammed into handing over valuable information to these thieves. The latest disturbing trend being reported shows that people being targeted through their cell phones, some people have received a text link that says sign up for your Ford Field COVID-19 vaccine.
Do not click the link if you are sent this text and delete it immediately if you receive a message along those lines. The only way to get the shot from this site is by registering online through Meijer.

Eye’s On Scammers
Our local partner Channel 4 brought the story to light and is working to make sure that people stay informed.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is warning people to stay aware of criminals looking to take advantage of people’s desperation to get the vaccine.
“People obviously are desperate to get vaccinated and to protect themselves,” Nessel said. “We just want people to be safe and careful in doing so.”

This situation has caught the attention of The Better Bussines Bureau (The BBB) and they’re currently investigating the situation in Detroit. With this mass vaccination sight being a first in the state, many people are trying to make sure that people’s information stays out of the hands of thieves.
