Christmas is on the way, and the USPS is back with a round of Operation Santa.

This year's Operation Santa will be completely virtual. In past years, volunteers would go to their local post office and read letters to Santa. Then, they would pick out some letters and purchase the gifts for the children who wrote them, sending them through the USPS.

This year, children will still write letters to Santa. Different, however is that the letter will then be uploaded to USPS's Operation Santa website.

Here's how to write a letter to Santa:

According to the USPS website, Santa's addy is below, so address your letter as follows:

SANTA CLAUS
123 ELF ROAD
NORTH POLE 88888

Those writing the letter must include a return address and stamp. They ask for toy requests to be specific, and clothing and shoe requests include sizes and colors. The deadline is Dec. 15.

Letters will then be uploaded to the Operation Santa website.

Here's how to adopt a letter to Santa:

If you are able to help a child this year, you can adopt a letter starting Friday (Dec. 4). Participants are asked to read and pick which letters and respective gifts to purchase and ship. There will be no in-person adoptions this year. Just wrap the gift using to USPS's guidelines, sign it with Santa's name and take it to a participating USPS Post Office.
