 The COVID-19 pandemic has coins —  quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies —  in short supply. 

Retailers get their boxes of coins from banks and the supplies are low.

Some banks  will only allow customers to buy one roll of coin at a time.

In mid-June, the Federal Reserve announced a nationwide coin shortage, which it blamed on the pandemic.
